CHILD AND SLAVE LABOUR

WORKING CONDITIONS INCREASINGLY BAD

Unfortunately, our society today has become a
society that disposes whatever it can. Anything
we can get done cheaply and quickly is used.
This means that young children in third world
countries with no education are going to be
exploited and used for their ability to work.
Large companies pay young children and unskilled
workers extremely small amounts of money to work
in deplorable conditions. It is impossible to
express the way that these young children are
being treat with words. The only real way to
understand how they are being treat is to visit
the sweat shops where they are being dehumanized.

The clothing that most North Americans are clad in
is probably made by the workers of a sweat shop.
You pay in money while the young slaves pay with
their humanity and dignity to produce your
sneakers or your new shirt with a designer logo.

The amount of child labour around the world is
increasing and it seems that only a minute amount
of people care to address this issue.

(Below) SONIA WORKING IN INDIA
This young girl named Sonia is producing footballs
for 12pence a ball. She is blind and has to stitch
the balls by only feeling with her hands. Her
mother is ill and her father has can not get a
job to suppost the family. Her pathetically small
wage is the only income her family can support
themselves with.

(Below) Mohan 10 years old worked in a carpet loom
At 6 years old Mohan (from India) was sold by his
parents to a man promising them that he would get
food and board in replace for work. They were told
that the work would not be hard and that Mohan
would be treated easily. Instead, when he arrived
there he was beaten constantly and received
food unfitting for his young body. He worked 12
hours a day everyday.

Mohan was rescued by an activist who saved him
from the loom that he worked in for 2 years.

It's stories such as Sonia's and Mohan's that
motivat people to work to save young children
that are constantly forced to work like this.
